In 1945 shortly after completing studies in engineering at the University of Pittsburgh and the Carnegie Institute of Technology, John W. Chapman formed the Chapman Corporation, a Pennsylvania Company established to provide construction services to the industrial marketplace.

In the mid-1960’s a civil construction group was formed to provide our customers with complete mechanical, electrical and civil construction capabilities. As a result of these services and capabilities the 1970’s brought a healthy balance of industrial work from many industries.

In the late 1970’s and early 1980’s additional growth plans put into effect the acquisition of a 14-acre headquarters site, a new advanced engineering center as well as expanded manufacturing and fabrication facilities, all located in Washington, Pennsylvania.

Joan Chapman, John Chapman’s daughter, took over the helm in 2017

and she has been involved with the Company for over 45 years.  Her experience encompasses nearly every aspect of the business operations.  With Joan Chapman taking over in 2017, Chapman Corporation became a Women-Owned Business and she continues to use the same philosophy that made Chapman successful over the course of her father’s time running the business.  Her focus is on providing each and every customer with the utmost respect and dedication they deserve to complete all projects safely, on time and within the budget.

Chapman Corporation was honored as the Diverse Business of the Year in 2019 by Marathon Petroleum Corporation at the company's Supplier Recognition Awards. A special invitation for outstanding vendor performance was extended to the top 0.5% of MPC's suppliers, representing only the top 80 of 15,000 companies.

Chris “Chip” Cipoletti took over as President of Chapman Corporation in 2022.  Chip has worked with Chapman since he graduated from Waynesburg College 30 years ago.  He has worked in nearly every department within Chapman and understands the business from every aspect.  Before becoming President, Chip was a Project Manager for 10 years where he was overseeing some of Chapman’s largest projects ranging from $10M to $50M projects.   After successfully managing these projects, Chip became the Director of Estimating for the Company.   In his Director of Estimating Position, he would oversee all civil, mechanical, electrical and HVAC estimates and helped grow the business by winning projects in a very competitive market.  Transitioning into the role of President was an easy move for him as he continues to lead by example with enthusiasm to provide the best possible service day in and day out. Mr. Cipoletti emulates Chapman Corporation’s values of respect and responsibility, and our high standards of performance and quality.
